A typical attitude though

We have the same problem near the Arcon. The leaves have blown there just as deep and guess who will be shifting them away. They make good compost though, but I will burn these because they will blow again.

My question to her Council would be - why didn't they clear them up last autumn? It looks like a suburban area, so the leaves must have been around then, albeit somewhere else in the neighbourhood.

To someone who makes leafmould that is a lovely sight

I'm not sure I'd want to collect them from the street, Steve....in the garden, yes. But...

They would have been caught out by the weather. I still have a single layer of leaves over the grass opposite the house, because we couldn't mow the grass there before the weather turned terrible. Now they are a nuisance because they hide molehills and tunnels and are being taken down by the worms.

I do feel sorry for this lady. My garden looked like that last week after heavy winds, and although, like Steve, I make leafmould with them, it took me over 3 hours to bag them all up and it was hard work. We get so many leaves because we live opposite a park. Although in the main area of the park, the gardeners gather up the leaves but they are completely overwhelmed at times and they do have other tasks to do. The council only sweep up leaves that have blown into the street but those that land in our garden we have to deal with ourselves.

It will shred your leaves too. I usually run the lawn mower over mine and that does a good job of shredding them too.

Ours packed up last year though, think I should have put it on my Xmas list!

I'm not sure I'd want to collect them from the street, Steve....in the garden, yes. But... I collect them from a "tenfoot" at the end of our close, the council doesn't clear it as its never been adopted so its a grey area as to who's responsible. There is some ""rubish"" but I leave that. its works for me in two ways, leaf mould and a clear path which I use when I'm walking the dog. If the leaves arent cleared it gets slippery.
