Having received some postal bare rooted strawberry plants a while ago I put them outside with the intension of planting them n a tub . Well I forgot all about them found them this morning frozen solid Is there any point in keeping them do you think , will they survive if I thawed them out and planted them up now ?

I would def. plant them. What have you got to lose? Exactly! Get them in and cross your fingers

Gently thaw them out ( not somewhere hot, just mild), then pot them up and put them somewhere frost free.

So did Quasimodo Elsanta is a good doer and I have grown it for years now. Maybe some folks could be picky over the flavour but it is a good all rounder and better than Cambridge Favourite imho

Definitely better than Cambridge Favourite which has been superseded. CF is usually grown as a jam strawberry and is too soft for most purposes.

I think you're in with a good chance, Ladybird.
I had three baby strawb plants from a neighbour. I put them in a trough, and then forgot all about them. They where frozen, buried in snow, and bashed around in the storms.
When I remembered them, I immediately applied an emergency program of Intensive Continuing Neglect, and ignored them some more.
They appear to be OK, and are still showing signs of growth. I have already purchased my tin of spray-on whipped cream, in anticipation.

Elsanta is grown commercially, for fresh sales, as it is supposed to keep a day longer than it's predecessors.
For home use, the T&M catalogue has many, but I'd recommend Symphony and Florence, if you intend to make some jam as well as dessert use.
