I have a Dodecatheon, but the place where it's planted is covered over by a Perspex sheet, that juts out from part of a roof. As a result it is very dry.
The Dodecatheon isn't doing well and I want to move it, but I don't know where to.
Please can someone tell me what sort of place these plants like, and when would be the best time to move it. Thank you

From what I can find Hywel they need, and I quote, "rich, moist soil in cool open or semi shade".

Somewhere near your Cortusa matthioli would be fine @hywel.

daitheplant, Cherry, grindle Thank you all for your replies. I have an idea where I'm going to plant it now Poor thing. It looks quite scrawny ...
My Cortusas are still in the pots I bought them Cherry ... must get them in the ground soon. I'll do them and the Dodecatheon at the same time.

If your Cortusas are pink @hywel, separate them with a white Primula. That way you would have a charming Primula patch. I love Primulas. It is a pity I can't design my own garden to look like this which is in my imagination.

I like the thought of Primulas with them. There are several kinds, so which do you think I could plant ? I like the Candelabra ones but never grown them. I don't know if they'd swamp the Cortusas and Dodecatheon.
Why can't you design your own garden ?

Pink and white Cortusas sound great so you already have a white one to place between the pinks of the Dodecatheon and pink Cortusa. I love Candelabras too and have a few, but they would possibly swamp your choice plants. I can't keep my garden as meticulously tidy and weed free as you do because there is only my beech hedge to keep my garden separate from the field. When I have a weed free patch, I will try to design.
