No offence Sue, but that looks very amateurish. It looks like a display from outside a second rate flower shop.

I like that style daitheplant & it's a lot better than the bare stone that's usually there. They keep changing the plants as it's going to be there from Spring to Autumn & I imagine they have to take some of it in at night, there are more plants inside in the beautiful hallway & they have birdsong playing by the door for atmosphere, covers up the sound of the trams rattling past!

How does a stack of old crates represent lost gardens?

It's a nice thing to do in the middle of the city. I went to Belle Vue when visiting friends on the way back to Australia in 1968. I have a lovely photo of a giraffe at eye level with my son who was in his father's arms. I could hear the neck swing round like wind and the eyes were huge. I have liked giraffes ever since.

daitheplant Sue described it as an art gallery with a little exhibition in conjunction with the RHS. It is an eye catching small display, which I think softens the city streets. Quite a lot of thought and work appears to have gone into it.

It is an art installation, the old pots, crates, tools etc. represent items which would have been used in the lost city gardens, you have to use your imagination, look at the old photos pinned to them & see what we have lost from busy inner cities. There are orchids in the hallway & some of the plants represent the kind of thing which would have appeared very exotic to city dwellers here. There were botanic gardens with huge glasshouses & beautiful walled gardens all lost for various reasons. We used to go to Belle Vue when I was little Cherry, I remember riding on the elephant & we found a photo of O.H.'s sister riding on it in his mum's old photos, I'm not surprised it closed though, it can't have been a good place for the animals. I went to the speedway at Belle Vue a few times as well & the funfair - it was the centre of entertainment when we were little!

Didn`t notice the pictures Sue, or what they show. So I will take it all back.

I like it. I think the potted succulents look nice in those wooden boxes.
