Good evening, Iv'e just joined the forum today, my main interests are breeding and genetics. I live in Bournemouth, 10 mins away from Ken Stock, for those of you who have never met Ken, he is a fantastic person and very knowledgeable. My back garden measures 130x80ft and my front garden measures 60x80ft so plenty of room for my Dahlias. I look forward to sharing with other members. Regards Grumpy (hahaha)

I took him some varieties for his breeding. All the best with your dahlias.

Hi Grumpy, welcome to the Dahlia nuts. What a great space you have to grow 80 x 130 you could do some damage there. Ian

Thank you for the warm welcome! Yes Ian it is a good size space. I was going to build a 30 by 10 greenhouse on the side of the property for growing purposes. However we are considering selling our home. We have looked at Cornwall/Devon We have seen one property in Devon with two acres of land with very good outbuildings. We are also looking at Kent and East Sussex, but at the moment we cannot make our minds up where exactly we would like to go to live. It is great to see so many novices on this form and getting so much help from fellow members. Tle you always come to the rescue and you are the first to give help and advice and that is good to see. I am sure I am going to enjoy this form very much. Grumpy but not so Grumpy

You obviously have a lot on your mind grumpy. I can't understand why you don't consider Norfolk. We bought 40 acres of arable farm, a small bungalow, lots of huge outbuildings, which include a hangar with toilet, storeroom and office and an airstrip in the prettiest rural area you can imagine, for the same price as we got for our very large house and garage on a normal block, near the Thames in an Oxfordshire village.

That is a very large farm, do you have animals on it too? That sounds a bit too big for my needs. We have been to Norfolk few times, but that was some years back. We live at the moment on the South Coast but to buy what we are looking for here in Dorset it would cost a fortune. What do you do with the airstrip and hanger by the way?

My husband was in the RAF and he now has a Jabiru small plane, so it is very much in use. There is a business around it and we rent the hangar space. It can get quite busy. The engineer lives in France and will fly here on the weekend. The arable farm is let to a big local farmer. There are no animals.
