Look under 'Tomatoes' lesley and find out what I did with my great inexperience. It has worked, but I removed quite a lot of leaves.

Lesley - give biological control a try - it works for me. Amazon do a course of 4 for £10.00 - they send 5 cards that you hang among your plants . the tiny Encarsia wasps then parasitise the white fly eggs.It takes a couple of cards to start working when you will see the eggs have turned black. If you use biological control you can't use insecticides as well though .Hope this helps

I've also got two melon plants growing in there but they haven't been affected yet

No they don't keep. They don't work until the temperature is up a bit - I usually get them in June. The cards arrive every week for 4 weeks and have to be hung up straight away - I have found them to be very good

The problem with nematodes is they are living organisms and as such will not wipe out their food supply. Interplant your toms and melons with some Tagetes.

I did that daitheplant but it didn't work this year or the year before, I heard from a friend that she's even got them outside so it must be a bad year for the little bl--ters

I had them in my polytunnel too, first time I've ever had white fly on plants. I like Tel's idea, I saw that on tv once as a solutiuon

Lesley, did you use Marigolds or Tagetes? I've had both in there doesn't make the slightest difference why can't they make a tomato resistant to all these pest's ??

lesley the tagetes to use are not the small bedding plants which do help a little but tagetes minuta which is a much taller plant. of course nothing is perfect and with the yellow sticky traps it pays to shake the plants occasionally to disturb the whitefly which then fly off and get stuck on the traps or you can vacuum them up using a hand held car vac. Shotguns tend to be rather ineffective here.
