That's a bit heavy-handed Roofy...... and won't they eat all your food? Those darned butterlies (or rather, their offspring caterpillars) have wiped out my entire brocclie crop, dianthus, to say nothing of jeapordsing my brussel sprouts. The 6-man "trumpet" crew could have dined on that Broccli for.... Actually... yeah... I see what you mean. The economics don't actually add up, do they ? Hmmm... its all down to manpower costs. Perhaps.. some sort of automation is required ? Something that can exterminate unwanted lifeforms ? OK.. not to worry... Plan B.

Just to get back on track, the way to prevent your brassicas being eaten by caterpillars is really quite simple. No need for the big guns Check the underside of the leaves regularly and if you see a small cluster of yellowish eggs just squash them, simples

An even EASIER way is to cover them with veggiemesh.

What, in the name of Bealzibubs Brassicas, is "Veggiemesh" ?
Is Linda McCartney involved ?

Also called, 'ENVIROMESH' a fine mesh net that you cover your plants with and the insects both good and bad can't get in.....................but they do as they are cunning little beggars and very persistent. So, unless you have acres of crops then vigilance is the watchword followed by immediate action.
