You CAN grow them in pots, just make sure the pots are large enough to allow the cloves to split.

one season, I never got to plant in the autumn, so started off some spring garlic in pots and transplanted when I could after the snows cleared.

This year's crop came from a couple of heads that I got from the Breton onion seller at Abergavenny food festival

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with vampires.
A wooden stake through the heart does for them. Less smelly.

I'm hoping to grow garlic this season myself grindle, though I havn't even BEGUN to research it yet, and I have no idea how to proceed.

If the weather is too bad for plantpot washing thisafternoon, then I will start reading up about it instead, and I'll let you know what I find.
