There was a lovely 'Silver Y' daylight flying moth in the garden today, I've spotted them before once or twice sitting on plants but this one was flitting from flower to flower following me along the garden. Margaret's buddleia has settled in well after moving here Cherry & the moth loved it! This is it sunbathing on a chrysanth There are lots of spiders around too, this was the biggest!

Margaret's Buddleia seems to like a damp climate SueA. It was really special in her garden. It can only be propagated under licence, or some such story as told to me by a nursery man in the north east of Scotland. He was able to take the cuttings and it is not the ordinary similar gold one sold. She had a beautiful garden, which was mainly for wildlife, and a little for herself. Margaret would have loved to see the moth sitting on the flower.

If it is a new variety of Buddleia and is a registered plant Jen, then, yes a plant licence IS needed and "royalties" must be paid to the breeder. If it is NOT registered, then no licence is needed.

That could be the reason daitheplant. This Buddleia grows at Glamis Castle which was where the Queen Mother was raised. Margaret's tree came from that one. I have it and so does SueA. We had it before the normal one became popular. Margaret was our wildlife expert and was an original on our forum from the old days. She died and Rosie went to her humanist funeral.

Lovely moth pics. Fractal , we get those sometmes too, haven't seen one recently though. At least you'd be able to spot any rogue spiders on your head Steve, my hair is sort of 'spider-coloured' so I have to search for them! Is that your mum & dad with you in the photo?

I remember Margarets funeral well, she is laid in a lovely peaceful place. The moth is fab! I get all manner of stuff in my fuzzy hair! tomato flowers, rose thorns, bits of leaves etc
