After the latest heavy downpour we found water coming in over the door between our kitchen and utility room so today I was up on the roof checking things out and clearing away all sorts of accumulated debris. because of this I had both doors wide open as needed to get ladder through. After clearing up I saw a movement on the floor and one of the cats had noticed it too. It only turned out to be a rather large toad. I took it down to the wild part of the garden and released it. Poor wee thing seemed rather bemused. not sure if toads hibernate like frogs so will have to check my wildlife books.

Keep an eye on the cat, in case he'd picked it up and got some poison ingested.

Keep an eye on the cat, in case he'd picked it up and got some poison ingested. She was only having a look. this particular cat never bothers any wildlife even the birds ignore her if she happens to be nearby

I think they do hibernate like frogs when it's very cold sweetpea but they probably aren't bothering at the moment as it's so warm, one of our frogs was happily sitting in the water in the corner of the pond last week!
