Next year I am going to be growing: One of my Dad's seedlings and has nice strong stems. Moonlight, this looks wonderful! That bicolor with yellow tip on the end is really unique, and the bloom has good looking form, too. I'd love to see this one available in the US some day... I'd certainly buy it! Hope the tubers keep well, and it's either formally introduced or passed around. I bet it would be really popular with the show AND casual growers over here. Do you mind if I share this image online? Curious what my U.S. hybridizing mentor would say about it. I'll let my Dad know. It looks really stunning in the garden (not biased at all honest ) and the yellow tips are what my Dad particularly like about it. I'll ask him for the ok 1st re. sharing the photo and I'll let you know .

Wow! This is a nice Birthday present for me, I really enjoyed telling my Dad today. This is the first dahlia that my Dad has named in a very long time.
It is called Eastwood Bright Spark.
cici Dad is happy for you to share the photo - I would be interested to hear any feedback, so that I can tell my Dad. I always keep him up to date about the news when I see him or if it is something that relates to him I'll ring him anyway.
Lou78W Cat robh I'll tell him that you like it.
Thank You All

Thank you... I'll be sure to forward any feedback to you. I'll post it in a couple places, one in a private forum and on the American Dahlia Sociiety Facebook page.
Has your father said how the tubers keep and if they have plentiful/average/few when dug up?

That bi colour causing lots of excitement. I have always loved this and the pink semi cactus you posted before Moonlight I liked some from last year as well that I think your dad dropped. Love bi colours and the tips are unique but I think the pink medium is a beauty. The petal reminds me of Ruskin michelle. So your dad has the prefix Eastwood .You kept that one under your hat ! Hehe talented dad and talented daughter I hope he will release some of these seedlings in the future. All the very best and let your dad know to keep it up and get us drooling. Hehehe But not to over do it like last year and knocking himself unwell.

Not really Raymond, just happy being me 'Moonlight' the poster and who talks too much about dahlias in her diary, I know that I talk about my Dad a lot but just happy being me. Only mentioned the Eastwood because that was what my Dad wanted me to. Dahlia seedlings always seem to be released so quickly. My Dad isn't like that, he has to really believe in a dahlia before he would release it. I know that if he still competed at Harrogate and Wisley he would be exhibiting Eastwood Bright Spark and some of his other younger ones.
I agree, I would like to see some of his dahlias released again. It is what I grew up with. I know what you mean about not over doing it. I told my Dad that you had said that. Thank You. p.s. I know what you mean about him dropping dahlias that you liked, he dropped a few that I liked but he is a perfectionist on form but if there is something that he is not happy with it then that's it. Tough Love.

Has your father said how the tubers keep and if they have plentiful/average/few when dug up? My Dad says that it makes good tubers and that it is still very young.

It might be a good idea to start a 2016 thread now?

It might be a good idea to start a 2016 thread now? I agree with Lou, could one of our Moderators copy the January posts over, to get the chronological order right. Pretty Please? ;-)

I have four collerettes I will trial again this year. I am only splitting the tubers no cuttings. I hope the white one and the bi colour are good.
