Thats David Bowie died now, what a sad time of year. I remember seeing all the Bowie fans outside the City Hall in Newcastle waiting for the concert, I was there getting my T.Rex tickets. RIP David

The song I remember most is Ground Control to Major Tom ... So sad when someone dies so young

I agree Lou. There are more important things going on in the world than the death of a singer.

Just can't understand all those people wailing and gnashing their teeth over someone they con't even know. People are born, and people die.......all of them at least he died peacably in bed at his home. There are worse ways to go. I know I was more upset when Geoff Hamilton died but at least I had had the pleasure of meeting him.
Maybe this is another Americanisation creeping in. certainly hope not.

Geoff Hamilton died with his 'boots' on which made it hard to take.

Thats true Cherry. David Bowie was a British icon, hopefully he is somewhere jamming with Lemmy and Marc Bolan with Elvis singing

I have a feeling I'm a bit too young to get the Bowie thing, but our mate Dave who's about 60 sounded quite sad about it. I suppose it's the memories you get that go with songs that do it. The amount of coverage of the story is crackers though.

Was there the same hype about Ed, Stewpot Stewart dying? No. This was just another example of the BBC "dumbing" down again. Breakfast News is just about posers selling books, promoting films or dying. Whatever happened to REAL news?

I've avoided contributing to this thread because I'm too upset.

My O.H. has always been a big Bowie fan, I was more into Roxy Music at the time but when we started dating we used to go to a club in the city centre which had several dance floors down in the cellars, one of which played only Bowie and Roxy Music, well that kept us both happy all night.
