Looking forward to more photos and updates ladybird I meant to plaster this thread with recent photos KC but I can`t find my camera . I bought a cracker wee one on ebay, a kodak easyshare for less than a £5 similar to one I had af ew years ago ( thats broken now.) bough a new SD card an all and where is the camera ? i`ll just have to make do with old ones here is a pic of the patio completed last year . I want this to be a secret sitting area, so I have to think how to do that, it is pverlooked on the right by neighbours . The pond is now where the rusty barby is. The steps look good but are not fixed and a death trap . I don`t like the round barrels as every thin in the back is either squared, diagnal or retangulat shaped .

ladybird what if you put square pots just a bit bigger or a bit smaller in front of the round ones and pack both tight with plants that will spume and froth over the sides, that way the plants will obscure the shape. About the pond.. what about changing the plants you have there that might make a difference it could be easier than relocating the pond.:-))

ladybird if you want frogs in your pond you would have to take the mesh/netting off the top so that they can get in & out so maybe no fish or you could try putting a lot more water plants in & some more smooth pebbles etc. & just a few native fish like grindle suggests as they would be able to hide more easily then from cats. Maybe you could fix up a panel of trellis to the gabions at the back & a post sunk into the grass & grow some climbers up it to screen your seating area a bit from the neighbours.

The idea I had for the pond was to have some kind of water pouring into it from the gabion wall, solor powered water fall . I wanted the water to be seen from the patio, but I also want some kind of screen along that right side for privacy , just can`t figure a way to have both . My new plan I`m pondering ( forgive the pun ) taking the pond out , and making a diaginal pathaccross the middle bit ( been watching monty last night and I think I have hit on one of my problems , a bit here and a bit there but no connection .

I`d like it to be a small garend in it`s self . A flower garden or a soft fruit place perhaps . Think I maybe want too much I`m even wondering if I can fit in a fire pit and seating somewhere

mine is too but I don't like the sun in the summer so I'm glad it's mostly in the shade Your ideas sound great, I'm sure you'll work it out, I spend hours thinking about a project before I finally get round to it. Shame you don't live nearer I have a spare waterfall

I was thinking of a tempory structure along the side of the patio , a trellis would suit well or some kind of mesh structure to grow stuf up . I had thought of a curtain like this one, just for the right side of athe patio. However what I would really like to create is like the pic below , problem is thought the sun comes from the left so the middle bit where the pond is and or proposed flowers/ fruit place/ or pond will be in shade. That`s why I thought a tempory structure , easily moved to let in light , would be good .

I like the photos ladybird, the curtain idea is lovely but whenever I see anything like that I think it would spend more time down off the frame in the wash etc. due to all the wind & rain here, you could use something like marine sailcloth though I suppose.

I`ve been in the greenhouse all day and not a seedling repotted. I`m trying to find a way to make a cover for the heated table as I detest removing all those individual tray covers i still can`t find the camera so here is a pic from last year

I had put in some white plastic hoops from an old lidl cloche and made a cover from a plastic table cloth with zips and all but the plastic tubing is brittle and cracked and the cover is too heavy . Using the tubing from the tomato thingy was a good idea but I`d have to cut some tubes and I want to use it outside later for some toms . The brush pole idea failed , i just couldnt get them joined together or find a way to attach them to my diy train track shelving . Now I`m back to the drawing board . It needs to be temporary so can`t make a wooden frame , as I need to set some of the other table tops on it to make room for the tomatoes later. Also I need it to be able to get quick access for watering . I have loads of bubble wrap juts have to think of a way top suspend it over the table
