Yay...I managed to see the northern lights last night. Had to get out of town though to do it. Sadly, my mobile wasn't up to it. Other camera, battery was flat Friend managed to get a peek from his bedroom in nearby town just north of me on his mobile phone.

I just saw about that on the news this morning Fractal, it was supposed to have been very good in Scotland last night, I was going to ask Rosie if she saw them, not much chance around here as there is a lot of artificial light at night.

Fantastic pics everyone. I'd love to see it for real, but there's probably too much artificial light around here. It's expected to be best seen over Northern Scotland again tonight, but still a chance further south again as well with another largely clear night to start with.

Apparently it was visible around the North West last night, there were quite a few good photos on the local news but they were mainly from the coast & on the hills so not much chance around here.

Beautiful photos from your friend, Steve.
I've seen the Northern Lights once, when Dad got us kids up one night when they actually showed up over East Anglia. Pretty amazing.
