Went for a lovely seven mile walk, very near to Keilder reservoir on Sunday. Also passed the house that I spent the first two years of my life in. Probably should have taken a few more pics but some are better than none. From the village of Falstone the walk takes a roughly circular route after an initial mile or so walk east from Falstone eventually rejoining the point where you turn off to the left before the return mile walk back to the village. A short walk from the car, we passed the old rectory. Mum's dad was a vicar here in the late fifties and early sixties. Pic of mum and dad by driveway gate in 1985 2016 The walk up the gradual incline from the village. Moi Lovely skies and sunbursts Interesting Lichen (Usnea) on some ancient oak trees near the river North Tyne I loved this moss too (Hypnum cupressiforme) This steep bank was the only part of the walk that tested me. Not great with heights and it was very steep! The gate at the top opened out too!!! I did take other photo's but not really that good. Enjoyed the walk and will do it again sometime. This is me at the rectory Mum's painting of the rectory about 1979-80(ish) Not far from the Pennine Way A cute but aggressive sheep. Kept stomping it front foot.

They are brilliant photos. I love every one of them and even the lichen and moss trees.

Love the pics. Fractal especially the lichen. You can see a couple of spots of lichen (?)in exactly the same place on the stone gatepost to the Rectory on the old & the new photos too! The lovely painting by your mum looks like a photo as well, you should have taken a copy of it & knocked on the Rectory door & asked if you could have a look around for old times sake!

Fab photos steve N. The sun rays are so serine looking, lovely scenery and a step back to the past - but I liked all of them, thanks for sharing! Your looking every bit the hiker - the sheep was giving you a warning and had you not walked away it would've ran at you - how brave they are when you consider their size. :-0

Thanks folks. Yes, I really love the walking and hope to keep it up. Harthope Valley walk probably next followed by Ingram Valley. Posts to follow of course.
