The little wren came back to the roosting pocket on the patio again yesterday & carried on stuffing it full of leaves, I wasn't sure if there were 2 of them or only one as it flits in & out so fast. Sometimes it looks as though it jumps out & then back in but it actually flew around the back & through a hole in the wall to the plant pots on the other side. Haven't seen it today so maybe just another trial run! The film was longer but it took so long to upload to YouTube that I edited it down.

We've never had any close enough to watch before but I don't think it's a good choice, they won't like it when the sun's out & we're using the patio as they'll have to fly past our heads to get in!

They reckon the male builds in a few sites and then shows the better half and she has the final say in which one is suitable, she then puts the finer touches to it (scatter cushions etc) The box these Wrens are building in is above the doors of the summer house where I normally go in and out plugging the mower in.....looks like I'll have to get my extension out and plug it in the shed for a bit

bit like us steve nice film SueA , I have a bird box but can't find a suitable place to put it out of sun or away from cats, I might have to climb the ladder and put it in the bay tree ready for next year.

I'm worried about the wren's nest as one of the 'twins' - 2 local cats who are almost identical, seems to have realised there is a nest there. I was in the kitchen this morning & saw it walk up towards the window, stand on it's back legs & sniff through the holes in the wall to where the nest is on the other side. I shooed it off but I doubt it will give up if it can smell the birds. Hopefully the clematis will fill out quickly with leaves & flowers & disguise it.

nothing stands a chance round here, they get the baby birds as soon as they start appearing and are forever raiding my fish, so I don't want to give them a chance with having an easy to reach nest box

The birds are lucky to get any fledglings safely out of the nests around here as well grindle, I've seen the 'twins' & another little tabby cat 30 feet up the oak tree with magpies jumping up & down on the end of a branch taunting them out to the skinny ends of the branches, they're very agile & fearless.

This is a better 'still' photo I took of it, not seen it today either, perhaps the cats have put it off.
