Hello everyone, I'm from Dorset and have been looking for a friendly place for some advice. I love Bonsai and nearly all garden plants. I've recently bought a Wisteria which I'm looking for some help with. I hope to learn a little more about the plants I have and make some new gardening friends along the way. :-)

Hi aeris73 & welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll get some helpful advice on here, I'm not the best person to discuss bonsai with though, I like bonsai & had a beautiful bonsai oak tree years ago & managed to lose it in one of the very bad winters about 5 or 6 years ago!

A warm welcome, aeris73. I hope you like the forum. You can find many sections that deal with... ITS A TRAP... GET OUT BEFORE ... creeeeaaaaaaakSLAM .. the door closes. Oh.. too late. Ah well. Red Cross parcels come each Tuesday, and there is a meeting of the Escape Committee on the second Thursday of each month. (sits in a corner, throwing a baseball against the wall... ) KeeeeerTHUNK.. <catch> KeeeeerTHUNK.. <catch> KeeeeerTHUNK.. <catch> Umm... what ABOUT Wisteria ?

Aeris, welcome to the site. You have to forgive Roofus, he is in therapy and we only let him out when there is a full moon.

aeris73 if you post questions about your wisteria I'm sure someone will help, I've got one but it's only a couple of feet tall at the moment & I'm trying to train it up a post holding a canopy up. I grew it from a tiny free plant in a pot for years & I'm assuming mine is the common wisteria, grafted specific varieties are generally better than that. I think it's the pruning which confuses most people, all that pruning back to so many buds twice a year, I think websites like the RHS & Gardeners' World are generally very good with that sort of advice.
