Down on the Farm
July Update
I've not done terribly well with "Mediterranean" type plants this year. A lot of my usual herbs have refused to grow.. possibly due to the cold and wet weather in April/May. However, the recent sunshine appears to have perked them up a little bit. So, here is the farm. It's currently sitting out in the Roofgarden in a slightly shaded area. (previously it seemed to be getting dried out to easily in the full glare of the sun, so I moved it.) The picture is a bit small, but its on the RoofFarmNet, so you can click for a bigger version. Everything has survived, even if most of them seem to be 2 months behind where I would expect them to be (in common with the rest of my Mediterranean 'erbs). The tomato plant - having turned black and shriveled at one stage - seems to be firmly back on the road to recovery. The Capsicums and Chilli plants also seem quite cheerful, albeit very small. I shall shortly be moving the Farm back into the Polytunnel, now that the sweltering weather has passed, and tending them more closely.

The Harvest
Well, everything really WAS late this year. But it finally arrived. Here is the "I'm The Boss's" harvest.... The chilli plant struggled a bit... but the Pepper plant did well, and the tomato plant went MAD. (although half of the tomato's are still green... but they ARE slowly turning red). What is NOT shown here is the Oregano, Basil and Chives plants, all of which did well, but had died back by the time this photograph was taken. Well... I SAY 'died back'... quite a lot of them "died back" into some of my casseroles and salads Any thoughts on what you'd like to grow NEXT year, ITB ?
