Has anyone seen the latest weeding gadget from (varying prices depending on where you shop) Hoselock? It delivers a 600c (1112f) thermal shock to the weed killing it instantly - but it does say more than one application needed on creeping weeds such as bindweed, ground elder and creeping thistle - the other downside is...it will burn a small area of soil around the weed and could adversely affect the soil - so the only recommend it for paths, patios and other hard surfaces - but all the same it's still better than chemicals Mods sorry if posted in wrong place

Blimey.... sounds a bit "James Bond". Whats next... orbital lasers ?
I can see how it may burn off the weeds surface structure, but how can it damage the underground roots etc ?

roofgardener I suppose the thermals flows through the plant and boils it all the way to the roots.

I'm not sure that is consistent with the laws of physics, and known principles of Biology, daisy. Mind you, I sometimes think the same could be said of weeds ANYWAY !

I had a weed burner doo dad..waste of time, by the time you had burnt one weed you could have pulled out 10. I read the thermal thingy causes the plant cells to burst but it's no use on gravel.
