A question from my Mum;
Is anybody else experienceing an absence of butterflies (especially the common Cabbage White), and - more seriously - blackfly/greenfly ? (and hence Ladybirds).
She grows a lot of Nasturtions, which are usually magnets for all three... but.... so far, not a single blackfly in sight. (nor butterflies, nor ladybirds).
Any thoughts ?

I've seen blackfly on next door's honeysuckle and only cabbage whites for butterflies. I usually get peacocks and small tortoiseshells in the garden.

An actual peacock might squash the flowers Roofy but there are Peacock butterflies , I think I've only seen one or two of those this year & that was back in May when we had a lot of sunshine. I think the wind & rain has kept everything away, I've seen a bit of greenfly on the roses but only a couple of ladybirds (did find a dead one on the landing window-ledge today ) & this week I've seen a small tortoiseshell & a small white butterfly in brief sunny spells. Saw the small white again today & then a lovely comma:-

I do get a stork flying over the garden and along the river nearby.
