This isn't another quiz like the one I put on a few days ago. It is a true story but I can't remember if I have told it you before but I will tell it again for anyone who hasn't heard it because it is interesting.
I have told you before about my friend Alan who lives across the road who looks after my plants and does my watering any time that I am away and I do the same for him. I plant all his hanging baskets for him. He has three sons and his youngest son, Blake , used to know a boy who came from a very poor family. his father was a bad lot, a drunkard. He must have spent all his spare money on drink. This boy liked football but they were so poor that they couldn't afford to buy him a pair of football boots. He wanted to go with Blake to play in a football tournament in the Isle Of Wight (why there I don't know). So Blake lent him a pair of his boots. When they came home , Blake was telling how good this boy was. He scored more goals then anyone else and was running rings round the other players. I don't know if the reason was that his dad was such a bad lot but he decided to take his mother's name. He is really called Wilson but he is now known as Ryan Giggs and he has plated 963 times for Manchester United and has become a legend ! It is a real story of "from rags to riches" and I like to think that it is all because Blake lent him a pair of football boots. But for that he would never have been noticed by any football clubs. He is still with Manchester United in a coaching role but would like to go into management. He owns a restaurant near where we live. We have never been in it but Martyn, our son has.
