I have got a couple of hardy Fuchsias in pots. All my other Fuchsias in pots have grown great but theses 2 are struggling. They both have good root systems. I've taken them out of the pots to check for vine weevil...not a single grub to be seen and no roots have been eaten.
Would anyone have any idea why they haven't grown? Its most perplexing.

Could be they've used up all the limited nutrient in the pots. Some of mine were yellowing a little so I stood them all in a shallow container with diluted feed in it. Chempac nitrogen and some Epsom salts. They all greened up rapidly and put some fresh growth on.

@davidv the one on the right is a lovely colour It's Fuchsia 'Display' Daisy. The one on the left is 'Snowcap'. I just did a car boot sale in Lymm, Cheshire, took 120 Fuchsias thinking they'd go like hot cakes.(for £1 each) Sadly I brought 80 plants home! Lovely plants but still, will try a busier car boot next time.

I've repotted them in nice fresh compost so we'll see what happens, I generally give them a feed once a week when they are growing but I've only ever given these 2 a small amount. The leaves were tingd red so I would guess they were under some kind of stress.

It doesn't surprise me about coming home with lots of fuchsias - I've been to the boots myself with plants - I know what you mean, good luck with the next one hope you sell out!

It wsas in the tunnel along with all the rest of my Fuchsia's daisy, and a hardy variety. In fact one of the same variety was growing away happily next to it. Its weird. I might contact the Fuchsia society about it.

When you say they have a good root system Rosie, are they pot bound and either need planting out in the garden, or a bigger pot? I've potted on a couple at the weekend for that reason. As David says though, maybe a feed will bring them to life. Like a lot of things in the garden, it could just as equally be the wet weather this summer that they don't like.

I've potted them on again Andrew, so we'll see how they fare. It has been a wet summer hasn't it.
