Fotunately they haven't visited my garden.......yet You are very lucky, Lou - they are a thorough nuisance and can strip a whole plant in a day!

I always start checking early, too It is better to find them early before they start breeding - I love squishing ;D I put my hand under where I am picking a beetle off so it doesn't fall to the ground

I check my pots twice a day, so I don't get larvae on them. The larva I saw was on a plant in the middle of the flowerbed - so I couldn't reach it to check it carefully - the bloomin' beetles fell off as soon as I got near! I swear they can hear.

I was just thinking what a good tip Peony but you didn't know to look under the leaves. You must spray the Provado under them too, in fact it is more important under the leaves.

I do spray under the leaves Cherry, but I've never noticed any eggs there. Perhaps because I start squishing and spraying early on I haven't had many ;D

Oh well Peony, it sounds like you are on top of the job or you would see them.

Spotted my first little red devil (no not that kind Steve , see you at Wembley! ;D) yesterday when I pulled a weed out of a strawberry pot, it was hiding in the compost! I think it must have been an over-wintering adult, well it was until I squashed it. I'll put some of my old photos of the lily beetles & eggs here just as a warning to anyone who hasn't seen them before. Mating. Eggs. Larvae. Adult.
