Weeds!

I started a new thread to see if we could share ideas about identifying weeds and tips on getting rid of them. These plants have appeared in the middle of my flower bed - I strongly suspect that they're buttercups, and hope someone will confirm my ID so I can remove them. I've never had them in the garden before!

I think buttercups, but it is almost too close to see for sure. We get a lot of them here.

They look like buttercups Geranium. One way of checking would be to see if they have put out runners (like ajuga does). They usually start with one plant then send out the runners to make more.

Geranium they will be big if you are nurturing them in good soil thinking they may be something they are not. ;D

I haven't nurtured them - I just spotted them in the middle of the bed when I was looking to see if my geraniums were appearing! It is good soil there, though. I think they'll have to go ASAP.

Well, they're out. I had to use a trowel as they were hefty plants - five of them! Now - who knows what these pesky weeds are please? I think this one gets a yellow hawkbit-type flower if I miss one. This one is an absolute pain!

No, it's not either of those. I should have said that it's evergreen and the leaves are quite large - about an inch long, I suppose. It clumps up too and has wiry roots. I think the flowers are tallish spikes in a dirty mauve colour.
