I've seen blackbirds doing it as well grindle & they do look like they've passed out, O.H. said it looked like I was photographing roadkill!

We were at D.C. too, but did not see the robin. Bought 1 plant and 1 bulb and three books.

Like grindle says, I've also seen blackbirds warming up their feathers, SueA , but I've never seen a blackbird do it. I wonder if it's learned behaviour it has seen from the blackbirds, and has followed suit?

A couple of worms Dai! I wonder if we passed each other Geumlover? Apparently lots of robins do it dianthus, I googled 'sunbathing robins' after I got home & there are lots of photos & reports of it.
