Hi i am new to gardening this being my first full season of having a garden. All below have past their best, flowers gone and foliage wilting, should i cut them back to bare earth now or let them wither back under their own steam? Bistort Salvia cardonna 3 x various catmint Caryopteris Buddlejas Geraniums
Thanks for advice

Hi there Dave, and a warm welcome to the forum.
I've seen Buddlea cut back brutally, almost down to the ground, and then spring back up unbelievably the next year. However, I'd prefer one of the more experienced Gardeners to confirm this ?

Good evening Dave ( good name by the way ) and welcome to the site. I take it you haven`t been watering them? Hence the wilting?

Hi dave & welcome, I wouldn't cut any of them back hard just yet but I'd just deadhead the flowers off them & give them a good watering if they're wilting. The caryopteris can be cut back in the spring & the buddleia can be cut back hard in the early spring next year to about a foot high if it's a tall one, there are some compact ones around now which don't need to be cut so severely but the other plants I'd just let die down themselves.
