May I remind people to be aware of scamming texts. Just after 7 this morning I had a text, purporting to come from HMRC, telling me I was due a tax rebate of about £1700. I was told to reply to the message and the money would be sent. HMRC, banks, building societies will NOT send you texts asking you to contact them or send them information.

The one I get tells me that I have won untold amounts from Microsoft. Yeah and pigs might fly.

I had a lovely message from the former Minister for Oil of Nigeria, asking if he could put $3000000 in my bank account.
What an awfully nice chap !

Some people have no morals. HMRC will only ever contact you by mail. I keep getting the one's saying I have been in a traffic accident, pretty difficult seeing as I don't, yet, drive

I`m glad to see everyone is alert to them. How`s the minister doing Rufus, I`ve not heard from him for several years.

I'm amazed at how many times I've been special and won money I used to get lots of snail mail about money I`d won which I had to pay an "administration fee" to get. So I used to reply to them, and I quote, " Thank you for such good news and please, feel free to take the fee from my winnings and send me a cheque for the remaining balance"

I don't trust anyone these days. We have to be so careful. I keep having phonecalls from people pretending they're from Talktalk, telling me there's a problem with my computer. I left Talktalk a long time ago so I know they are scams. I tell them so ! I also get phonecalls from a robotic voice telling me I am entitled to a new boiler.

When getting cold calls from call centres I always ask if I have given them permission to call me. When they say no, I point out they are breaking the law so they should go forth and multiply.

Found an email this morning purporting to be a Subpoena from the Crown Prosecution Service calling me as a witness to something or other in London. Not sure what the normal procedure for a subpoena is, but hardly think they would send one electronically and to an email account rather than a named person. Very nasty. It is a Scam and the Email contains a virus so be very careful.

I must warn my Mum, she's a bit susceptible to text messages!
We get more scam phone calls than anything else. Often the ones telling you there's something wrong with your router/internet/computer and the person calling will fix it for you... when given access to all your details. This seems to be the scam I hear people fall for most often (particularly elderly people with computers) Generally I hand callers over to my husband who has a lot of fun talking to them in different accents and offering to fix their morals, etc.

Geum, I would be inclined to get in touch with the actual CPS and let them know.

Geum, I would be inclined to get in touch with the actual CPS and let them know. Wasn't sure where to report it, but someone has done it for me. Cannot send them any details as I deleted the original.
