Sooo.... plans for 2017 are now being.. well... planned. And I'm toying with the idea of a scented roofgarden. I mean.. the Roofgarden IS scented, but it is mostly.. dunno....chip oil and boiling socks. I was hoping for something a bit more floral this summer ? I was impressed with KC's gift of the Night Scented Stock, and that will certainly be featured heavily. But what else ? Any suggestions for highly scented plants (that can cope with being in containers) ?

Sarcoccoca (Christmas Box) is a small, evergreen, winter flowering shrub which has highly scented white flowers.

I think lavenders are a safe bet roofgardener , I think you might already have them though? They're great in containers & would do well in the sun on your roof without needing watering very often & would attract pollinators for you. Nicotianas & Sweet Williams also smell lovely & grow well in containers & even pansies & violas have a pretty scent.

Thanks for all of that folks... I'm making a list. A friend also suggested Jasmine ... does anyone have any experience of that ?

Jasmine can get large and untidy. Some of the deciduous Azaleas are highly scented.

I have to grow Jasmine is a pot up here, its far too cold in the winter to have it in the gorund. I feed it regularly and top dress it early in the year. Cherry's son Geoff bought it for me a few years back
