I suppose when the urge took them they weren't thinking about the fish! I heard a frog croaking in the pond a couple of weeks ago but I haven't spotted any spawn yet but maybe that's a good thing as they're forecasting a 'big freeze' again.

Another pair in same spot in fishpond today. Will they never learn? maybe I'm just envious that they are getting plenty of what I'm not getting enough of No I'm not into kinky frolics with amphibians just to clarify

The frog was in the pond on Saturday & then yesterday I spotted this:- so there must have been at least 2 of them! First frogspawn of the year here.

mine got busy again after the cold snap, but looks like there's more on the way at the weekend, wonder if any will survive

checked my spawn the other day and noticed some of the embryos had elongated slightly so some must have survived the freezing temps. yesterday i couldn't tell as difficult to see with the light reflections on the water but definitely no tadpoles yet. ps while removing some duckweed today caught a wee tadpole. only noticed that one so far.

I'm worried the spawn I saw is in a corner of the pond where the blackbirds like to sit & drink so if they spot it they will eat it but hopefully there will be other blobs tucked away from them.

I went out last night to see if the bats are out & about yet but didn't see any but I did hear a frog in the pond croaking really loudly - maybe the frogspawn in there did freeze & he's keen to make some more!

I noticed the frogspawn was 'bubbling' yesterday when I was tidying around the pond & realised it was the tadpoles wriggling free in the sunshine. Filmed them, this isn't speeded up or anything, they were wriggling like mad!

not sure if I have any survived the cold, when I was clearing out the duckweed, I didn't find one tadpole, only a baby newt and a baby fish, so either they've moved to the deeper part of the pond or I've lost most of it

That's a shame grindle, maybe there is some hidden away, I didn't think ours would have survived as the top of the pond froze after the spawn appeared but they must have either 'laid' some more or the bottom layer survived. I'm envious of your newt, I've never seen them here.

I'm hoping some might be hiding somewhere. I love my newts, have quite a few in the pond now
