Just a quick reminder that it's the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend. Rspb Big Garden BirdwatchPouring with rain here so we may not get all the little birds but I've already seen the usual suspects 5 magpies, 2 woodpigeons, 2 blackbirds & about a dozen starlings. I might do another count though if the weather picks up later today or tomorrow.

I saw a new bird I hadn't seen before (well a large group of them) last week or so at my feeders. I looked them up and they were long tailed tits. I was so surprised I had never heard of them.

They're lovely little birds aren't they ziggy, we get them here but I don't ever remember seeing them when I was young, I think that like lots of birds they've started to come to gardens more in recent years as they're forced out of their wild habitats by developement/loss of habitat etc.

I just got really excited! I saw another bird I didn't recognise on the bird feeder tree except these guys were high up and seemed to be pecking the branches of the tree rather than going for the feeders. I looked them up and they are bullfinches!
