What is the poll about, Joysie ?
I'm not too clear on your question about the slabs but, whole peanuts shouldn't be fed to birds really, try crushing them up first and then putting them out for the birds - whole ones will only be pecked at and then dropped. Not too sure about the mess you mention on the patio ......

I doubt if birds would do that to your slabs. I think you will find it is either a badger or a fox.

i have a patio which was concreted to fill in the cracks normally it gets weeds and moss growing in between them so the birds dig it out but as my patio was such a mess the other day with concrete bits i thought it was large birds i get pidgeons and doves in the garden as well as blackbirds and starlings i have a six foor fence all the way round my garden so it wouldnt be animals also i bought the peanuts from a pet shop to put in the round nut ball peanut feeder to hang on my bird stand as the birds never touched them i put them on a tray i hope this is explained better for you

Joysie, could it be that the frost has lifted the cement grouting and? it's certainly made a mess of mine.

Joysie, could it be that the frost has lifted the cement grouting and? it's certainly made a mess of mine. I've had similar problems with the grouting in the walls round my raised beds. Its survived previous winters but since last December bits have been falling out
