I cant believe it has been two years since I moaned about my greenhouse polycarbonate disentragating . I had considered a new rhino but settled on replacement polycarb, most of which is still behind my living room sofa still to be installed . I have only replaced one side so far as it is an awful job to scrape all that silicone off and the base is rusting, the paint is peeling , and someone who recently visited me thought it was a shed !!! The Dilemma: I`m 63 with sore knees do i continue reglazing with the poly carb I have or invest in a new , has to be a rhino , glass greenhouse and glaze the roof with polycarb . I don`t exactly have the funds ( though I do Have a few ideas Hubby says he will add to the pot every month so just have to convince the grown up kids that mum is in need of this . www.greenhousesdirect.co.uk/Greenhouses/Rhino/Harvest%208ft/8x12/

if the base is rusting now, I'd go for the Rhino, by doing the old one, it might not have much life in it

I bought a 6x4 new GH frame ( no glazing) up and all, so I could use the spare polycarb for that . postage is around £250 extra but I think it will be worth it in the end .

I think that would be a better use of it, it would be a shame to waste it

With a bit of searching grindle you might find a decent g'house for free or at least quite cheap. Every g'house I have had over the years has been a freebie except the current one which set me back £50.00 The downside being having to dismantle and transport.

I do recall you suggesting that two years ago sweetpea and I did look on gumtree, still looking in fact, thats how I found the new eden 6x4 frame for £60 .I nearly bought a lean to conservatory recently but the though of trying to dismantal and transport put me off .

thanks sweetpea but it is Ladybird asking Ha Ha Grindle I`m only talking about it on here as my hubby won`t let me talk about it , in fact the word greenhouse seems to annoy him now I tried doing that thing we women do , planting the idea into his head that we need a new one but make him think it is his idea but it hasn`t worked so well .

I used to have polycarbonate greenhouse and coldframe... they're OK, but I'm glad I've got all glass now. I often see greenhouses for sale on my local 'Car boot' Facebook group. Do you have access to anything similar? I know a lot of greenhouses/sheds etc need dismantling, but for a bit extra cash, some people will help you do it... or if you know a good local handyman/removal guy, you can pay them to do it. Still cheaper than a new one. I bought my greenhouse (Europa, they don't come in big sizes) from here; www.greenhousesdirect.co.uk They have quite a lot of offers on 8x12 greenhouses. Does it have to be a Rhino? Some of those other brands are a lot cheaper, but if you are in a really windy area or something...?

I would like a 12x8 rhino harvest with double doors and reasonably high eaves as I need the space for all those seedlings and the Rhino is quite a good price with 4mm toughened glass base low door and a really secure bar capping system that wont allow glass to blow out. I was intending to buy it two years ago but the shipping was £250 to me here in Belfast and I wasn`t sure about who was responsible for any broken glass occurring in transit. I must post a picture of my dilapidated one though I`m now wondering if the frame might just last another 10 years if I give it another lick of green hammerite paint

I had some glass (ok, all of it!) broken in transit, when I bought a coldframe. I think the coldframe was a Halls frame. I sent it right back with the courier. I think as long as you check the parcel as soon as it arrives, before you let the courier go (this is totally within your rights, and indeed what you're supposed to do) you can get any broken glass replaced. But I expect most companies would probably be OK if you found out after the courier had gone... you could always ring to check. It's often easy to tell if you've got broken glass without unpacking lol... it rattles!
