My sis-in-law is getting married next April, and wants 'rustic' displays of succulents in wooden log troughs (or similar) on the tables, also planted in big decorative letters, and in a few other displays. The ideas I've seen on Pinterest etc look gorgeous, but she wants me to sort out the plants themselves so she can just plant them up by at least early April next year. I think she probably has no idea how many she'll need - I think it's going to be hundreds, all told, in a few different sizes, and as many different colours as I can get hold of. She started me off with two trays of 'hens and chicks,' but particularly wants the pretty blue/purple succulents, that are not so hardy, and more awkward!
Anyway to cut a long story short - any idea how to get hold of many, varied succulents, as cheap as possible? Can anyone recommend a plant company?
I have a small collection of succulents and can propagate a few, but they probably won't grow quick enough? I can possibly propagate them to make some small filler plugs, but they aren't going to fill out into big plants that fast I think... Argh.
(I had no idea what section of the forum to put this in, sorry!)

It sounds like a lovely idea Bess but probably will work out quite expensive. You can buy multipacks of generic succulents though which work out a bit cheaper, sometimes they have them in garden centres & Lidl & Aldi occasionally have them & I've bought trays of plants a few times at big plant stalls at events in Manchester - they usually come from Holland or Germany so there must be somewhere that supplies them - possibly online.

You could contact the British Cactus and Succulent Society, they could maybe give you some ideas... society.bcss.org.uk/Failing that I would try E bay.

Thank you I have now bought a few trays on eBay, ones which I'd be happy to keep myself should The Bride have a sudden change of mind... I have not heard anything from her about them since - I just have a whole bunch of succulents taking up space in my greenhouse! I wonder if it might be a good idea to talk to one of the local small GC's about sourcing them.
