This seems to be the first time anyone has complained about the font size & background colour as far as I can remember so it doesn't seem to have been a problem in the past & as has been pointed out you can usually change your personal settings on your own computer to alter brightness, font size etc. The current settings on here as easy to read even on a mobile phone so maybe ipads are the problem, I seem to remember someone complaining that they couldn't load photos on here from an ipad. Whatever the settings you shouldn't spend too long staring at a screen of any sort as they are all bad for your eyes.

I also use a Mac desktop computer. There is nothing wrong with iPads.
Mine wasn't a complaint it was a suggestion.

I have to broadly agree with @willow's suggestion. Creating a new skin is probably a rather time-consuming proposal (complete with the option to select/change skins for each user), but it might be more comfortable for some people ? I'd love some guidance from Steve on this ?  So would I. |

I didn't think this would lead to conflict or such opposition. I can assure you that what I've suggested isn't an arduous task for steve it's a simple fix. This forum is running in the most basic form. |

We don't ignore posts like this hoping they go away, there are 4 of us who look after the forum and after a request for change we will discuss that request and see if we think it would benefit the forum and the majority of users, the request for adding the photo option was a good one and we agreed and took it on albeit some photos seem to contain links to dodgey sites which we are keeping an eye on, skins, coloured backgrounds, photo backgrounds and font changes we don't think are needed to improve the forum for the majority of users so we agree with Grindle here. As you say Rita you did have your own forum for a number of years and so you know how easy it is especially with Proboards to create your own and tailor it to your own needs with font size colours etc.

The moderators/administrators are not PAID to run this forum, and have other demands on their time. Having said that... the principle of "... for the majority of the members" is potentially flawed. Could I ask that the committee consider the option of a skin geared towards people who may NOT have perfect vision, and report back ? After all, partially-sighted people are a minority in the UK, but we still make provision for them, even though the majority wouldn't benefit from such provisions ? I'm not saying anyone here is partially sighted, I'm just using it as an illustrative (1) principle. (gets up from computer desk and walks into lampost). Notes
(1)... umm... ok.. that was a bad metaphor under the circumstances.

Along with when the forum was connected to GA/GN, it has always run fine. We have been connected to this forum for bat least 12 years and it's always been fine.
You're right Roofy, we do this because we love gardening, again it was the same when GA/GN run it. It may be running on it's most basic but I personally don't have a problem with that.

I seem to recall that the only cosmetic changes were made at Christmas time when there was all christmasy stuff decorating the pages.

I gave away my laptop and use an Ipad but have no trouble with it as I wear spectacles. I could not carry my laptop on the aeroplane as often as I use it, so this is the most convenient way to keep in touch.
My only problem has been connected with moving brightly coloured avatars. Thankfully, This fashion has outrun its course.
