Just found out the price of our allotment rent is doubling this year. So for what has always been called a full plot is now being called a double plot , then they are doing single plots (half plot) and mini plots which is half again.
The annual rent of £112 for a normal sized plot isnt a lot when you look at it on a weekly basis but I can see a lot of people not being happy by the doubling of the rent, especially as some people have had two full plots for years.

Yes council run and all we get is water, nothing else if we want to join allotment association its another £5 but nothing much really happens.
A fullsized plot is 10 poles, which I think was the norm until they started splitting them up oh but if you are a concession you get 50% discount, well all the oldies down there will be ok then lol!

That is a lot of money for an allotment. I have a full plot but we are all charged the same rent whatever the size. If anyone wants to upsize or downsize they have first refusal if a plot becomes vacant. We are charged £30 with concessions of £25. If the rent is paid before 31st March we get a reduction of £5. We have a water supply, security gates, membership and insurance with the National Allotment Society and 2 skips twice a year for plotholders to get rid of rubbish that cannot be burned all included in this fee. We do not have a shop but we have a card for 10% discount from a local nursery.

I'm not 100% on this but there is something in the by laws about price hikes for allotments, something along the lines of the increase being reasonable, the NSALG are challenging some of these rent rises using this.
we pay £6.50 for half and £13 for full but we haven't had this years agreement yet its due soon, so i'm hoping we won't have any suprises. all we get is water there are 4 taps on site.
