On this week's GN page27 the pic at bottom left showing a hand holding a knife. I thought there was something a little odd about it so I tried to replicate it in real life using my (similar) knifebut no matter what contortions I get into I cannot hold the knife in the manner shown. Go on then, try it and see what happens and do let us know.

I` not quite sure what you mean SP. I have a similar knife and have no problem replicating the position in the photo. The knife appears to be in his right hand the blade pointing towards his body while the sharpener is in his left hand if that`s any help.

I had a look at it too sweetpea (didn't buy it, stood in the Co-op reading it! ) & as ladybird says I could do it as well, it's not upside down or anything, the guy has his hand palm up with the knife held backwards & blade up so that he can sharpen it with the sharpener in his left hand. The only thing I would say is that I've always been taught to never point blades towards yourself so I would point it the other way in case I managed to stab myself in the wrist!

Tried every which way but still can't do it. maybe I'm just deformed held the knife in MY right hand, blade pointing towards me which puts the thumb in the pic on the wrong side had several people here try it and still no satisfactory answer. I think the pic has been rotated somehow. goes off muttering to his self and scratching head.
