I was advised to repost it here. I live on the coast south of Melbourne Aust I have been growing Dahlias for many years and never seen any thing like it. All the other Dahlias in other sections are in perfect health. One suspect could be a new male cat into the area and roams a lot, which is illegal in our area all cats must be confined to an enclosed area. Not that far back I noticed a "Mildew" on a dark leaved Dahlia. It would be the only one in a row of about 12 medium Dahlia. Now its rotting away. I am prepared to "Bin it" no big deal as it can easily be replaced. My question is I will be digging the remainder healthy ones out and cleaning them. What would be the best way to do that and what can I add to the water to clean them. I will be storing them in a box of Sugar Cane (I use it as a mulch its a very popular product) Next the soil any recommendations? Thanking you in advance Keith Read more: garden-friends.co.uk/thread/4642/dahlias-stems-rotting-away#ixzz5BINhjQ3z
