is the Poplar transport café still there? Lol, don't think so S.P....it's a big complex now called "Poplar Services". There's an expensive M&S food hall, and a Gregg's bakery, and such like, just off the motorway junction.

Gosh, it is many many years since I walked around Lymm Dam. We used to go to the Baptist Church in Lymm from the one in Widnes when I was about 11. Do you originate from round here, Geumlover...?😀

Widnes, bred and buttered. If you know the monologue "Tuppence per person per trip" by Stanley Hollaway about the ferry boat across the Mersey, well one of my ancestors was a ferryman on the crossing from Widnes to Runcorn.

It's a small world, Geumlover! I know Widnes and Runcorn well! My family originated in Penketh (they owned Penketh Tannery), so not far away. I'm in Warrington now, and my hubby came from Lymm.

Used to stop at the poplars when I was lorry driving and sometimes get a return load there too. Also remember an episode of some crime TV show being shot there but can't remember what one.
