Takes me back Fractal, I used to love those books & the i-Spy type ones where you could tick off which horses/flowers/insects etc. you'd seen.

That is a sensible book and a beautiful scene on the cover. It made me start googling for children’s swap cards with beautiful scenes from my Australian childhood.

Ooh, I used to have that book, Dad was a farmer so that scene of the front is very familiar. I wonder if Mum still has it. I've got some of the Ladybird Wildlife series around - I still use them for reference when painting because they're so clear. And I used to enjoy the Ladybird history books too I-spy books were fun if a little impossible to complete - the 'I-spy Cats' one for instance, where you had to locate all sorts of Persian, Egyptian, Manx, long and short hair, pure-breed cats...

I think I used to cheat a bit Bess, when looking for the horse/pony breeds I'm sure I identified various 'mongrel' ponies as 'Palomino', 'Strawberry roan' etc.

I had a lot of the Ladybird books for the boys when they were small, I can't remember ever having any myself
