in the old g'house yesterday I saw this thing moving on the bench and I believe it was a threadworm but how it got there is a mystery. possibly deposited by a bird on the roof and fell in is the only explanation I can think of. Not my pic but this is what it looked like.

My goodness sweetpea, what are you breeding in Wales? That looks horrific. It looks like puppy worms.

It was actually much thinner than in that pic Cherry but no idea how it got where it did.

Update sweetpea. Natasha, my younger son’s partner knew straightaway what the worm was and asked if you have a cat. It is a roundworm which was vomited by the cat. She said I must ask how often you worm your cat? Sounds reasonable, doesn’t it?

Yes we have cats Cherry plus there are always a stray or two coming around. however our cats have regular flea and worm treatment and none of them has shown any signs plus where i found that worm there was no sign of a cat or anything having thrown up so still a bit of an enigma. Thanks for input though.
