Visited this lovely garden also in 2018 during one of the hottest and driest summers. Almost felt like 'being abroad'.

The hardy Aloe striatula. I have now since bought one.

Can you see the church?

A tree Sow Thistle (Sonchus sp.). A Dandelion relative I wouldn't mind!

I'll just stick a couple of these in too as me and friends Stayed in Thornham on the North Norfolk coast. Lovely village and near to a nature reserve of low dunes (absolutely packed with the True Sea Holly) and Saltmarsh. Gorgeous wild plants here too.

One of the best long weekend breaks I've had!

I bought my Bergenia ciliata ‘Wilton’ at East Ruston last July. This is a favourite plant, which I put above my Melianthus major. Even the flowers are really special.

East Ruston is a hot garden to visit on a hot Norfolk day, as the heat concentrates in the garden ‘rooms’.

Alan Gray hosts a very good weekly gardening phone-in programme on Radio Norfolk. I won my border spade from him on this programme.
