Fantastic blooms johndoe! Many congratulations. How does growing Giants compare to growing for other classes? Next stop Harrogate? Johnjess Hi JJ. Thank you very much, absolutely dumbfounded to be honest. Great feeling though!!
I thought it would be easier if I'm honest, but how wrong I was. Needing 12 different blooms of one class you need to grow 18 to 20 varieties, and in big numbers as you're only getting 2 to 3 blooms per plant. Missed timings wipe out many, and of course the weather has an effect on giant blooms so its not long before your hoped for numbers dwindle down. Never spent so much time at the allotment this year as I've done on previous years. Its been great fun, I set out 12 months ago to go for the 12 giant dec championship at the National, and somehow achieved to get placed. Blooming magic
Just hope I can find another 12 for Harrogate on Friday!!
Thank you all for your kind words, very much appreciated.

Didn't you do well johndoe . Congratulations on your success; you must be very proud of yourself. I'm going to Harrogate Flower Show next weekend and am looking forward to seeing all the dahlias. Its been a good few years since I've been. Cheers Lou, I'll be there with my giants on Friday, not sure I'll have enough for the 12's but should have enough for the 6's. Might see you there.
