This weekend I saw a snake again ! Last year it was an Adder (yup, they're close by ) ontop of the fence. Yesterday it was a grass snake side-winding past my feet ….. screamed, then ran inside - me that is, not the snake ! I DO NOT like anything that slithers or scuttles AT ALL

I could not answer this when I read your post yesterday@louised. I lived on what we called The Snake Path for 3 or more years collectively in a unit on a holiday island which was a protected wildlife environment for all natural wildlife. This meant there were koalas in our trees and rock wallabies which needed water put out for them, screeching birds like flocks of cockatoos and galahs AND SNAKES, some of which are horribly venomous. Google the common death adder, the most venomous land snake in the world. We have had these, always very still, and a licensed snake catcher has to remove them. I had a skinny 2ft long python come through the air conditioner. Lights were put in the garden to help me with my fear. Remember it is tropical and therefore dark for 12 hours a day. I saw very few spiders, yet when I did they were very large. I don’t mind spiders. Learn to love your adders. Still a distance is good.

I've never seen snakes in our garden Louise but have seen grass snakes & a couple of adders when we've been out on walks. I'm not frightened of them at a distance or even close up if they're 'tame/pets' but would jump if one suddenly appeared by my head/feet, I did see a dead snake in a gutter in the road just round the corner from here recently which appeared to have been chewed by something but I think it was possibly an escaped pet. I couldn't live with so many poisonous snakes & spiders so close like you did in Australia Cherry, I would be forever on edge thinking I would be bitten!

When they suddenly appear it really startles you, this thing was about 4 inches from my feet, I think it must have come from under Sarahs Delta because it appeared from nowhere whilst I was stood by her.

Louise keith lives in Victoria where they have some nasty snakes also and red back spiders. We were taught about the spiders at school in my day. I actually come from Victoria and have brothers and a sister there, but Moira lives in Picnic Bay on Magnetic Island near Townsville. Somerset is beautiful keith.

I live on Vic Mornington Peninsula only 8klm from bass Strait. Our general area I have never seen any nasty. I know where are plenty of Tigers only a few Klm away in the large swamp (sorry wetlands) the worst big nasties are in the water Sharks and Stingrays the worst of all would be the small Blue ringed Octopus in the back beach rock pools and general rocky areas in the Bay.

That's it Louise blame the fuchsia I was going to ask you if you fancied a game of Snakes & Ladders but think I'll give it a miss.
