How 'chuffed' I was to buy Dwarf Dafs, Anemone and Tulips, all really cheap. Never again, by far most of them have gone all slimey. Maybe it was the extreme weather but they were in pots in the GH.

that's such a shame Merlin, but I must admit to having bought cheap bulbs on numerous occaisions and not had any trouble with them on the whole

I can't understand this Merlin as these were all tough subjects which are happy in pots. You would know if they were firm when you planted them, so why would they go to mush in the greenhouse which gave them a few degrees extra to being outside? Could they have been overwatered?

That seems very strange. However, the check-out girl in B&Q said the same yesterday! Shame, because she'd started gardening - and that's put her off.

It's maybe just been too cold for them and they partially froze, then went mushy when the defrosted. i have lost a lot of bulbs like that.

They were not over watered but as I had run out of multi-purpose I used JI No 2.
