I had to go to the Post Office this morning. While waiting for the Bus an to come home an elderly woman asked me the time being half deaf I thought she was asking what time the Bus arrived. Then she told me she was blind in one eye and very bad in the other. Being cheeky I said to her because of her young age (I guessed late 80s) they might not operate on her eye then she dropped the massive bombshell she told me she was only 102 years old.
That young woman was out shopping by her self and no walking aids. Silly old (82) me I have a walker.
I knew of a man on the bus that turned 100 then he suddenly passes away.
I have said for over 20 years ago I want to reach the 100 mark as there is extreme long age in my family.

Keep up the gardening keith. It obviously works for you as it does for most of us.

I used to see lots of old people when I worked with the social services, going around the residential homes, and often came across 99 and 100 year olds that looked many years younger than they were.
One lady in a certain home was 116 so there's hope for us all yet ! … but she did look old.

I feel quite young now at 66 but with sore back neck and knees I believe the Queen had to employ someone extra to help send out the 100 Yr old telegrams because so many people are now living to over 100 years . I wonder who is the oldest on this forum ? Anyone own up ?

Blimey Cherry, ladybird is a mere youngster at 66 & you & sweetpea are still young at heart in your seventies! I think Derek & Joysie might be our oldest (in numerical age) at 84 & 83 but I'm not sure.

This forum has been going for a long time in one form or another, and we have got old together. I am always interested in Lou’s knees because mine aren’t too clever at present. I do yoga twice a week at two different venues to keep exercised. I have 2 great grandchildren in South Australia keith. The eldest is 7.

Its nice to have forumites older than us Cherry! Sweetpea, yourself and I have been the "oldies" for a long time...I have 2 grandchildren, as I may have mentioned before....the youngest, my granddaughter Courtney is aged 21, and has just got herself engaged. Apparently she did the proposing while they were in Spain on holiday...and even had the rings posted to the hotel. Her fiancé has an engagement ring too!....how times and fashions have changed!!. My knee is doing ok, but taking a heck of a long time to heal!! still have a bit of tenderness in places and the nerve ending are very slow to heal...still numb in places.. Its been 10 months since my surgery Will see what the surgeon says when I have my annual (and final) review at the turn of the year. I try to walk everywhere I can as well as gardening, to keep myself mobile; I'm training myself off my walking stick.

Just a thought: Is one 12 year old grandchild equal to 12 one year old grandchildren?

I'm off to see a consultant next month at Dr Greys about knee replacement. I'm going to ask if it can be resurfaced instead.

Good luck with that Rosie. I think they've stopped that in England now, perhaps Scotland is different. I'm after a new hip next
