Yes alright you didn't even notice I was gone, did you? Drove down to I o W on Saturday for son's wedding on Sunday. After a nightmare journey got to the car ferry just in time to see it pull out but got put on next one an hour later. Portsmouth was gridlocked no idea why. Anyway we were put up in a 5 star mansion guest house where the wedding and reception etc. was actually held. Big 4 poster bed and excellent service. Could have easily have stayed for a week. Highlight for me was looking out window while having breakfast and seeing a red squirrel running back and forth on big horizontal branch on the tree just outside. In late December? Last time I remember seeing red squirrels was back in Scotland as a child. Quite a while ago that was!

Sounds like a lovely trip & wedding sweetpea, the red squirrel probably doesn't bother hibernating because it gets 5 star snacks from the hotel! It's so mild now I bet lots of creatures aren't hibernating properly. We've seen red squirrels on visits to the reserve at Formby, in the wild in the Lakes & in captivity locally where they're breeding them to reintroduce them to the wild, just the chubby greys in our garden though.

What a good time for a wedding. It is nice to take time out to admire nature. It is even better to have a nature show while having breakfast.

Cherry I still remember 8 years ago when I was in Sydney at one of my brothers house where he would have a packet of mince just to feed the butcher birds. Sometimes they would catch a bit of meat in mid air when it was thrown. All the birds seemed very tame in his back garden and there was a lot of them.
