I watch it. Prof. Brian Cox has a very soporific voice. They could do without the music, but BBC turned the volume down after complaints.

He's very upset about the music being turned down as he says it's not meant to be just a lecture it's meant to be a cinematic experience as well. He got annoyed by an article written by Sarah Vine in the paper I read (The Times) in which she said the series was just an ego trip for Prof. Cox, posing dramatically in front of pretty backdrops & that science programmes should be presented by 'nutty professor' types, 'old duffers' (her words) who you could take seriously. Prof. Cox said he was trying to appeal to a wide audience & interest youngsters which Ms. Vine should be in favour of as her husband is Michael Gove the education minister who is keen to get females in particular interested in science, engineering etc. Then he went for a walk to cool down! ;D People are also having a go at his northern accent which of course I think is lovely so in his next interview he's going to go all 'ee by gum lad'! ;D (I read his 'tweets' on Twitter.)

I'm not normally into this type of program, they are always too stuffy. The OH loves them and I have enjoyed all of these, they are like a breath of fresh air, I think the music works and his accent is great, I love accents , there are too many people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain. If they won two million on the lotto they would moan that others have won four. There is just no pleasing some people.

I've not read the criticisms in the press but as someone of a certain age, I suffer from slight deafness. The main problem is 'background noise/music' which makes it difficult to hear what is said. I get irritated when the media seem intent to have a report direct from the site without making any effort to mute the background. I also enjoy the the Prof's prog. though. I'm having a hearing aid fitted next week lol....mostly so that I can hear the 'morning chorus' and also so I won't have to keep asking, what did he say?

I hadn't seen any of them, so just looked on iPlayer, very impressed and will finish watching later. So why should he be older, I think he's doing a great job, and obviously knows his stuff. It's great that a much younger person is making this sort of programme

I agree with your comments on the different accents, because it does make life more interesting. We don't want to all be the same. Sue, I still prefer the music turned down (not off) mainly because I was losing his words which were taking second place to the music.

Cherry, you know how you said you think Prof. Cox's voice is soporific, well it must be, last week I had to keep nudging my O.H. to stop him snoring through the programme, the background music wasn't the problem for me! ;D

he's not that old/young, I think he is in his 40's.
The programmes are great and a lot of kids are watching it. [so my 13yr says ]
I find the rotating around the film shot a bit nauseous though.
