I remember the one you had in Spain balc2, you showed me a photo of it. It was Mammillaria prolifera. I've got one as well. However this is M. bocasana and is a much larger species. It also has hooked spines which sometimes get stuck to your clothes and it is difficult to remove them. Sometimes they would rather get ripped from the plant than let go of your sleeve !

Eli you seem to have a "magical" hand with succulents! The few I have are not really doing as well as other years. For the 21 years we've lived in this flat I've grown Christmas & Easter Cactus & had them growing like "weeds" but this year those that I still have are nothing like previous years. The "Money Plant" I had somehow managed to keep alive gave up the ghost, the Christmas Cactus cuttings have almost all dried up & the plant (a Brazilian cactus, can't remember what it's called now) given to me a couple of years ago seems to be slowly dying though a cutting I took is growing well. The same with the plant you sent me, it's still clinging to life but it's slowly dying back with no signs of buds. On the other hand a cutting I took of it is growing alright! I took a couple of pictures of them this morning. .

Nice Christmas cacti balc2 Mine have died but I managed to take some cuttings before they shrivelled up. They seem all right so far but there are no flowers on them.
Your Rhipsalis looks as if the stem has withered. Maybe you could try some of the branches as cuttings. I'm glad the cutting you took earlier is doing well.

Thanks, Eli! Perhaps I will try a couple of cuttings before the plant you gave me dies.

My Rhipsalis is starting to bud up. Looking forward to it flowering. I forgot to see if the berries had any seed in them.

My 'Mistletoe cacti' - though they are not all that good!
This Christmas cactus in putting out a second flush of buds!
These are my Easter Cacti:
They are cuttings from 2 years ago but I've been hard pressed to keep them alive all this time! I've had Christmas & Easter Cacti for many, many years but these must be some of the worst to grow in all these years. I've lost about half the Easter Cacti cuttings during the past year.

Photos from inside my new greenhouse ... The walls need painting but I will do that in the summer when we get better weather (hopefully !)
Starting behind the door and going around clockwise :-
You can see through the windows that outside is still in a mess after the building work and demolition of old shed (and bad winter weather), but I intend to get it tidied later this month

Thanks, Eli ! Perhaps I will try a couple of cuttings before the plant you gave me dies. I did as I said in the quote above, only I don't remember now just when I took them but it was this year (2023). They have been in a pot in the kitchen close to the original plant but as they didn't seem to be making new growth I emptied them out of their pot & found the reason why - no roots! As the cutting are still alive I repotted them in the new Cacti & Succulent compost which arrived last Monday. I hope they root eventually & don't rot on me.
When Eli sent me the original plant, nearly 2 1/2 years ago, one branch had broken off in transit so I potted it up. It rooted & has been growing, ever so slowly, since then so I decided to repot it in the new compost & a bigger pot. Now I hope it will grow a little faster & perhaps give me some flowers at the end of the year.
I repotted the original plant in the new compost as well. I hope I haven't caused its demise by doing so!

I think my 6 Cacti plants liked being repotted a few weeks ago as all of them seem to have grown fatter & bigger. I'm now looking forward to seeing more than one of them flower for the first time this year. If they do I will post pictures of them in flower. I haven't taken any more pictures since repotting them but as I will be clearing the kitchen windowsill of lots of the plants on it at present I'll take a couple of photos of them & we can compare them before & after repotting.
