I've got some very low box balls/hedging like steve has robbo81, it's slow growing & kept be kept as low as you want if you trim it every year. The box balls in my front garden are 6 years old & about 1ft tall & the little hedge (also 6 years old) around the sundial in the back garden is only about 10in tall (both need a trim at the moment)

Oh brilliant. Just what I’m after. I had visions of planting them and next year be digging em back up haha that’s good to know. Thanks very much for your help. I’m glad they are slow growing :-)

Hello again my buxus hedging arrived today. It says spacing of around 30cm apart. Is this about right? Seems a lot to me. I do only want a low , small hedge , so it suits me if it will mean a thin , not very bushy hedge Thanks all

I think you can probably plant them a bit closer than that if you want the hedge to look 'bushier' quicker especially as you want to keep it low, I'm sure mine are a lot closer than that but I haven't measured them.
