Yours looks good against that wall sweetpea, I have red valerian everywhere as well, it pops up in the cracks between the pavers & along the fence & looks good & insects love it. I think it was somewhere in Wales years ago where I first noticed it along the walls & hedges & looked it up & actually bought a plant to start my collection off, some came with me from our old house & it's colonised here as well now.

I've seen the white one on another forum & it does look good doesn't it, I might try & get some one day. Maybe it's not as vigorous if yours has disappeared?

Funnily enough I've just bought some seed from Chiltern Seeds of the white form. Lots of seedlings of it now to add to the red I have. I've seen a pink one somewhere too that'll be in seed now. Must remember where I saw it and collect some.

I first saw it years ago at a factory in Sussex. Didn't even know what it was back then but I collected some seeds and had it more or less since although as I said, no white.

I put some in next to our south-facing garage wall in mid September, and it's still flowering! It's a narrow and shallow strip of soil, next to a stone pathway, so given the nature of Valerian, it seems to have taken to the spot. I wanted it for the insect benefits plus the less than ideal planting conditions. It's red/pink./purple, per each plant.
